Recording System

The custom-built digital audio workstation and DSP platform that powers every session at LnL Recording.

The Heart of the Studio

Custom-Built PC DAW

Clients inevitably ask about the recording platform. Here's how the studio is configured for work.

At the core of LnL Recording is a custom-built PC — a workstation configured specifically for multi-track audio production. The owner has been building and configuring PCs since the mid-80s, and that experience shows in a machine tuned for reliability, low latency, and heavy session workloads.

The front-end interface is a Sonic Core XITE-1 DSP platform, paired with a 16-channel AD/DA converter. This combination delivers hardware-grade signal processing inside the DAW environment, offloading plugins and routing from the host CPU so the system stays responsive even under demanding mixes.

What It Can Do

Recording Capabilities

The system is built to handle full-band tracking without compromise.

Specification Detail
Simultaneous recording channels Up to 20
Front-end DSP interface Sonic Core XITE-1
AD/DA conversion 16-channel converter
Workstation type Custom-built PC (owner-configured)

With 20 channels of simultaneous input, the studio can capture a full drum kit, multiple guitar and bass tracks, keyboards, and vocals all in one pass — no piecemeal overdubbing required unless you want it.

How It Comes Together

The Signal Path

From microphone to finished mix, every link in the chain is chosen for clarity and character.

Signals enter through the studio's microphone and preamp collection, hit the Mackie mixer and outboard processing, then pass into the XITE-1 DSP interface. The DSP handles real-time effects and routing before the AD/DA converter feeds clean digital audio into the PC. Inside Reaper or Samplitude, tracks are edited, mixed, and prepared for delivery — all monitored through JBL LSR32 speakers driven by a Hafler P3000 amplifier, or checked on AKG K240 and Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs headphones.
