A high-energy rock recording should feel physical before it feels polished. Start with a performance that has somewhere to go

If every section is played at full intensity, the chorus has no room to become larger.

Make a simple energy map of the arrangement. Mark the first heavy entrance, the biggest chorus, any breakdown, the guitar solo, and the final section.
